Shelley at her senior prom!
"I met Shelley in high school. My main involvement with her was through her senior class play, I Remember Mama. Shelley played Mama and I was Papa. That’s how we got to know each other. Then we dated for the rest of the senior year. I took her to the prom. Yes, we tolerated each other for all of five months,” he adds with a smile.
"I guess I was the only guy she found worthwhile. She never was much of a dater and didn’t have much to do with boys. Shelley had her head on straight. She never was your rah-rah cheerleader type."
— Dr. Steven Rhinehart as quoted by Jim Leggett in “Shelley Long’s First Love,” Star Magazine, June 30, 1987.
